Duck Delivers Storytime with Tom Tinn-Disbury
The Children's Room at The Barn, 1.30pm
Join us here in the Children's Room for an interactive story time with author and illustrator Tom Tinn-Disbury to celebrate the publication of his new book, Duck Delivers. We're very honoured to be welcoming Tom to join us on his official book publication date and, with that in mind, we're hereby declaring the day as 'DUCK DAY!'.
Tom will delight children with a storytime session with lots of opportunities for children to get involved in the action, plus he'll be gracing our windows with some very special duck themed artwork too.
Duck themed attire is not essential but is definitely encouraged - the qu-wackier the better!
Tom will be happy to sign copies of his book which have been purchased from Kibworth Books.
About the book:
A laugh-out-loud adventure filled with 'quacking' bird puns, vibrant illustrations and hilarious high-stakes delivery-drama! Duck is a home bird. He likes splashing in the bath, eating bread in bed, and organising his sock collection. Yet, there comes a time when even the most unadventurous birds must fly the nest.
And what better way to see the world, than as a Delivery Duck for Feather Force?!Soon, with his uniform, parcel and STRICT instructions from Osstrich Bosstrich, Duck is scooting off on his very first adventure . . . what could go possibly wrong? A fun-filled story with messages of perseverance and positivity, perfect for little ones obsessed with the post-people and delivery drivers who knock on their doors!
Preorder the book HERE.
About Tom:
When Tom studied animation at university, he realised that the best part of the process was writing stories and drawing characters and not necessarily making them move! After a brief foray into film editing and broadcast TV, Tom decided to pursue a career in picture book making. Tom uses a mix of pens, pencils, paint, and Photoshop to create his art, and coffee and sandwiches to write and illustrate his stories at his home in Rugby.
Need to Know:
Please note that there is a £2 ticket charge per child to attend this event which is redeemable against a book purchase. This is to let us know who's joining us on the day and to avoid any disappointment should spaces sell out.
This event will take place in the Children's room at The Barn. We have limited space for buggies and scooters etc outside, weather permitting. Regrettably we do not have dedicated inside space for buggy storage but we will do our best to accommodate everyone.
The storytime will be ideal for children of pre-school age up to age 8 plus any baby / toddler siblings. (There is no charge for accompanying adults or babes in arms).
Children will be seated on stools, with a limited supply of cushions available. Parents will be requested to stand and watch if possible.
A short creative activity may be offered for children who wish to participate.
Please note we do not have a customer toilet available. We'd recommend encouraging toilet trips beforehand if possible (though we do appreciate children can be unpredictable in this regard!).
Photos may be taken during the event for social media purposes. Please rest assured that backs of heads only will be photographed unless explicit permission has been given by the accompanying adult. If you would prefer for your child not to be in any photos do just let us know and we will be sure to honour this.
