'Tackling Racism Together' Book Gifting Campaign
A copy for every Leicestershire school... Will You help us?
Publishing today, 24th September is a very special book - Tackling Racism Together by AM Dassu in partnership with the UK’s leading anti-racism charity, Show Racism the Red Card.
This important and timely book for young people aged 9+ (and their grown-ups!) aims to give readers a broad understanding of what racism is, how it affects people’s lives, and what they can do to challenge it.
Brilliantly designed, with quotes and real-life stories to inspire and engage young people, top tips on recognising racism including micro-aggressions, and practical steps we can all take to address it, all readers will be left feeling empowered, equipped with the knowledge and confidence to take positive steps forward.
We passionately believe in the power of books to make a difference in the world - and world right now really needs books packed with empathy and kindness. The right book in the right hands at the right time really can change hearts, minds and behaviours. This book is a perfect case in point of this, and so we're on a mission to get a copy into every school in Leicestershire.
But we need your help!
To kickstart the campaign Kibworth Books will be gifting an initial 20 copies to schools and we're actively seeking further funding via other sources. In addition however, we would love to invite customers to consider purchasing a copy (or multiple!) for us to send out to to schools.
We're actively working with the publisher, Quarto, on other ways to enhance this book gifting campaign, including the provision of free educational resources which can be drawn up to use the book practically in schools. We're still at the very beginning of this campaign but our ambition is large - to get this book into as many schools in the county as possible and help them maximise its use.
If our maths is correct, there are currently 708 schools in Leicestershire county and 225 in Leicester city. That's a lot of schools! So any support you could provide us would be hugely appreciated. This might include...

- Amplifying news of this campaign via your networks - friends, family, schools and colleges, your workplace...
- If you work for or own a business that might be prepared to offer a donation, please get in touch with us as we'd love to chat!
With each book that is sent out to a Leicestershire school we'll be clearly signposting whether the book has been donated by a customer, a business, or via another funding source.
