Book & a Biscuit: Christmas Stories 

Thu 18th Dec, 2025, 11am-12pm in the Children's Room

Join us for a Book & a Biscuit event at the shop, themed around the most wonderful time of the year: Christmas! Aidan, our resident storyteller, will be delighting children with a tale (or two!), followed by a Christmas-inspired creative activity and, of course, treats. 

Tickets are £2 per-child, redeemable against a a book purchase on the day. We will have stool/chair seating for any adults in attendance, so stroller space may be limited. We also have a few parking spaces outside the back entrance to the shop, with additional parking nearby (feel free to ask us!)

Festive holiday wear encouraged (but not required). See you there! 

About Aidan: 

Aidan hails from Austin, Texas and is a current student in the Creative Writing MA at the University of Leicester, specialising in young adult fiction. She loves to read, write, and watch pretty much anything in the fantasy genre. She's currently working on finishing her first book and loves to share stories and book recommendations.

Need to Know Info: 

Please note that there is a £2 ticket charge per child to attend this event which is redeemable against a book purchase on the day. This is to let us know who's joining us on the day and to avoid any disappointment should spaces sell out. 

This event will take place in the Children's room at The Barn. We have limited space for buggies and scooters etc outside, weather permitting. Regrettably we do not have dedicated inside space for buggy storage but we will do our best to accommodate everyone. 

The storytime will be ideal for children of pre-school age up to age 7 plus any baby / toddler siblings and home-ed families. 

Children will be seated on the floor, with a limited supply of cushions available. We're provide stools for parents to perch.  

A short creative activity may be offered for children who wish to participate. 

Please note we do not have a customer toilet available. We'd recommend encouraging toilet trips beforehand if possible (though we do appreciate children can be unpredictable in this regard!). 

Photos may be taken during the event for social media purposes. Please rest assured that backs of heads only will be photographed unless explicit permission has been given by the accompanying adult. If you would prefer for your child not to be in any photos do just let us know and we will be sure to honour this.
