Wednesday 14th April, 11-11.45am

Kibworth Books, The Children's Room,

Join us here in the bookshop for a storytime with award-winning author and illustrator Greg Stobbs!

We're so delighted to be welcoming back Greg to Kibworth Books, following his visit to us in celebration of his beautiful book Cloud Boy. Greg will be sharing his latest book with children in a star-filled magical storytime and there'll be time for little ones to get creative too.

Ticket price includes a copy of the book and a small snack. There is no charge for babes in arms.

About the Book:
Ursa is a little bear made of the night sky. It is Big Bear and Ursa's job to make sure every star is exactly where it belongs. But Ursa finds it hard to stay still and while Big Bear is sleeping, she accidentally sends the stars flying.

Seeing the chaos she's called, Ursa travels down to Earth to retrieve the missing constellations. A cosmic tale about making mistakes, learning to ask for help, and the importance of making time to play, from the award-winning creator of Cloud Boy. Also available: Isla and the Sky and Cloud Boy

About the Author:
Greg Stobbs is an award-winning illustrator and author, street artist, and associate lecturer from the South East of the UK. He’s worked internationally on a range of projects, from installations to interactive art pieces. In 2020, Greg created the illustrated digital backdrops for the BBC’s Cbeebies Christmas Pantomime. His debut picture book, Don’t Ask the Dragon, by poet Lemn Sissay, was published in 2022. Greg likes to develop work that crosses the boundaries between fine art, street art, and children’s book illustration.

He is the author and illustrator of Cloud Boy (OUP), which was his debuted authored book and was the winner of the Inclusive Books for Children (IBC) Children's Choice Award. Cloud Boy was also read by singer Cat Burns on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, celebrating neurodivergence. He has since written and illustrated Isla and the Sky (OUP) which was Highly Commended for The Children's Wainwright Prize for Picture Books. Ursa the Star Bear is his third authored picture book (2027, OUP).

Need to Know Info:

This event will take place in the Children's room at The Barn. We have limited space for buggies and scooters etc outside, weather permitting. Regrettably we do not have dedicated inside space for buggy storage but we will do our best to accommodate everyone.

The storytime will be ideal for children of pre-school age up to age 7 plus any baby / toddler siblings and home-ed families.

Children will be seated on the floor, with a limited supply of cushions available. We'll provide stools for parents to perch.

A short creative activity may be offered for children who wish to participate.

Please note we do not have a customer toilet available. We'd recommend encouraging toilet trips beforehand if possible (though we do appreciate children can be unpredictable in this regard!).

Photos may be taken during the event for social media purposes. Please rest assured that backs of heads only will be photographed unless explicit permission has been given by the accompanying adult. If you would prefer for your child not to be in any photos do just let us know and we will be sure to honour this.
